Precise and flexible integration: SYSTEM FLEX for Triumph Controls-Germany GmbH
Triumph Controls-Germany GmbH in Heiligenhaus is a subsidiary of the Triumph Group, a global leader in the aviation industry. Triumph Germany develops and produces mechanical and electromechanical control and cable pulling systems for aeroplanes and helicopters.
Care and precision are top priorities in the manufacture of products used in aviation. Triumph also consistently implements these values in the packaging and dispatch of its products.
For the remodelling of the dispatch area in Heiligenhaus, high-quality equipment was to be created by experts that would guarantee a systematic and precise process and could also integrate existing components and proven processes. Triumph particularly wanted to improve efficiency and workflows in the dispatch area and therefore approached the logistics workplace experts Rocholz in neighbouring Velbert.
During an appointment on site in Heiligenhaus, the shipping area was examined together and the specific requirements and wishes were discussed and analysed.
What was needed was not just new equipment, but a solution that would complement and expand existing strengths. Some elements were to be retained and integrated: a large table for packaging work measuring 2500 x 1200 mm, a strapping machine and a welding machine for tubular film. The intelligent integration required a number of customised solutions and the experts from Rocholz got straight down to planning.
Built in a U-shape, Triumph now has a well-thought-out logistics workstation system that encloses all materials and machines in a process-orientated manner and ensures a seamless and efficient workflow from picking to weighing the finished packages.
In collaboration with Triumph, a special solution was developed for the large packaging table: as the table is 1200 mm deep, storage options for packaging material could not easily be connected directly behind it. Rocholz GmbH therefore planned three attachment points, each with a large silo for packaging material. Triumph then milled precisely fitting recesses into the table, which are precisely adapted to the profiles of the attachment points. This brought the silos closer to the users, who can now remove the contents ergonomically. A detail that saves time and reduces physical strain on a daily basis.
Three SYSTEM FLEX packing tables with electric height adjustment were installed at Triumph. In the first SYSTEM FLEX packing table - the centre of the U - inclined Rocholz profiles were used: anyone who tries it out immediately notices how much easier the ‘healthier’ angle makes reaching upwards.
Another important ergonomic support is the electric height adjustment, which enables quick adaptation to different users and processes.
This SYSTEM FLEX table has been supplemented with a wide range of accessories for storing tools and packaging materials: a perforated rear panel, shelves, dividers for boxes and other organisational elements to ensure that everything has its easily accessible, ergonomically valuable place. This clear structure also promotes fast processes and minimises errors.
Two further SYSTEM FLEX packing tables form the longer U-leg: these two FLEX tables are synchronised and can be adjusted in height together at the touch of a button. The resulting continuous work surface is precisely tailored to the processes at Triumph: This is where the tubular films are used.
To the right of the synchronised FLEX tables, a customised cutting stand has been integrated: four axes for four rolls of tubular film in different sizes plus cutting device. Ergonomically integrated next to it: the welding machine for tubular film. This was given its own shelf directly on the table base of the right-hand synchronised SYSTEM FLEX packing table, so that all elements can always be at the right working height together.
Once the packaged items have passed through the second synchronised SYSTEM FLEX packing table, they are transported to the integrated strapping machine. The table-machine interface has been optimised with a transition bridge that ensures a seamless and continuous material flow.
The parcels are then transferred to a roller conveyor with an integrated weighing frame, which means that onward transport and the weighing process are combined in a single step. This saves space and time and also contributes to employee ergonomics.
At Triumph Controls-Germany, a systematic workplace solution has been created that combines ergonomic working, clear routes and efficient processes. The integration of the existing components was particularly successful here in co-operation with Triumph; we are always pleased to expand our wealth of experience through such challenges. Many thanks for the neighbourly trust!
