Designing Ergonomic Packing
and Workplace Systems
What does ergonomic mean?
Ergonomics as a science is concerned with how humans execute work. The term is comprised from the Greek ἔργον (ergon) = work and νόμος (nomos) = natural law. The central aim of ergonomics is to create appropriate conditions for the execution of work and the use of technical equipment and tools. Alongside designing user-friendly working systems and working spaces, the focus especially lies on enhancing the connection between user (human) and object (machine).
Why create and use ergonomic workplaces?
Ergonomic workplaces increase well-being and therefore raise motivation and performance. Furthermore, the level of sick leave and fluctuation is reduced. In summary: Ergonomics guarantees higher productivity.
