Merchandise management system

A merchandise management system (MMS) is a central element for trading and production companies. It is used to digitally record and optimally organise all stocks, goods movements and storage locations. It not only simplifies the management of stock levels, but also orders, incoming and outgoing goods, picking, dispatch and returns processing. By automating and digitising these processes, companies can increase their efficiency and reduce costs.

An ERP system provides transparency across the entire flow of goods and enables precise monitoring of stock levels in real time. This leads to better planning and can prevent bottlenecks or excess stock. In addition to the economic benefits, a well-integrated merchandise management system also contributes to customer and supplier satisfaction. The reason for this is that delivery times can be shortened and availability can be better predicted.

Modern ERP systems often have a modular structure and can be flexibly customised to a company's individual needs. They can also be linked to other business systems such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software, CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software and POS systems. With the help of an ERP system and a CRM system, holistic business management can be realised.

There are three different types of merchandise management systems: the open merchandise management system, the closed merchandise management system and the integrated merchandise management system.
