Project Lodenfrey

Luxury fashion and costume in e-commerce

Anyone looking for exclusive designer fashion and unique traditional costumes will find everything their heart desires at Lodenfrey (lodenfrey.com). The traditional company was founded in 1842 and the renowned flagship store in Munich city centre is one of the leading department stores for fashion and traditional costume in Germany. Here, discerning customers can get the hottest looks from their favourite designer brands from a single source and experience a shopping experience with outstanding service.

Naturally, there has also been an online shop for discerning customers since 2010. In order to be able to continue to meet the increased demand there at the highest level, all the threads must come together efficiently in the logistics department: Coordinated, holistic processes are the most valuable asset here.

In order to maintain this level, Lodenfrey optimised processes and required durable equipment that is resistant, but also flexible enough to be adapted to all processes - including future ones. Quality and adaptability were therefore the two main requirements for implementing the optimisation - both key features of the SYSTEM FLEX logistics workstation from Rocholz GmbH.

According to his specifications, the customer received a sample packing table, which he wanted to test for a few weeks before possibly ordering a whole series of further packing tables. Realisation was to be quick, but individual requirements still needed to be taken into account. During the planning stage, the decision was therefore made in favour of a complete packing table variant 3 from the SYSTEM FLEX range, which was individually adapted to Lodenfrey's requirements.

This packing table has an electric height adjustment and inclined Rocholz profiles at the top, which enable ergonomic working for every employee using the packing table and rationalise processes at the same time: With the electric height adjustment, the table can be quickly adapted to any body height and any process and the inclined Rocholz profiles enable a comfortable and healthy gripping angle to overhead packaging materials.

During the needs analysis for Lodenfrey, all processes were analysed and then flexible shelves and holders for work materials were integrated directly above the table top to create orderly, ergonomic and also faster workflows.

Instead of the standard equipment in the area below the worktop, a closed shelf for tissue paper specially developed for this project was positioned on the left under the worktop, within easy reach and ergonomically. In this way, the work step involving the tissue paper is integrated most efficiently into the packaging process and the sensitive material is well protected. The transition to the conveyor system, which is directly adjacent to the workstation for a seamless parcel flow, is also located on the left.

Flexible holders and shelves with articulated arms for the required IT were embedded on the right-hand side of the sample packing table, so that everything has its fixed, yet flexible and ready-to-hand place. Equipped and customised in this way, the individual sample table was tested in continuous operation at Lodenfrey for several weeks. On site, they were very satisfied with our speed and flexibility in realising the project and were also impressed by the sample table, which enabled them to achieve more efficient results even during the test phase.

Further identical packing tables were then quickly ordered and supplemented with mobile carton magazines. The result was a perfectly customised packing line in which every process was ergonomically coordinated to create a holistic system that increases efficiency. Lodenfrey can and will be able to handle all processes with this system in the future. The employees also enjoy ergonomic workstations that protect their health.
